Leaders of the 28-member EU will discuss strategies to contain the spread of Ebola during their meeting in Brussels on Thursday, EU sources said here Wednesday.
The discussions will include a possible mandate for a special EU coordinator, with the task to ensure the most effective engagement between the European Union, member states and the UN to fight Ebola.
The EU leaders on Thursday will also discuss external relations and in particular the Ukraine crisis and EU ties with Russia.
However, the EU leaders are expected to focus their discussion on the main theme of the summit which is the EU 2030 climate and energy policy framework.
On Friday, leaders will reconvene to discuss the economic situation in the EU followed by a euro summit to continue the discussion of the economic situation focusing on the 18-member euro area.
