France on Thursday condemned an attack the previous day against a military convoy that left four soldiers dead and a number wounded.
The French Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the victims' families and solidarity with the Tunisian people and government.
The attack took place in the Al-Kef remote region near the border with Algeria and is believed to be the work of Al-Qaeda radical militants, who are active in the area and are suspected of the attack against a military bus carrying the soldiers.
"Faced with the terrorist threat, it is essential that Tunisian national cohesion allows the democratic process under way in this country to be completed," the French statement said.
Wednesday's attack on the military is the latest in a series of terrorist attacks against Tunisian security forces over the past several months.
