The new myfamily application provides the services of a personal health assistant for the family in the palm of a hand, a U.S. health official says. Dr. Don Wright, deputy assistant secretary for health, disease prevention and health promotion at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said the app was developed out of an HHS challenge by the team at healthfinder.gov. The app allows a family to set and customize health alerts and reminders. "All the content currently found in healthfinder.gov can be accessed through the application, in particular, vaccinations, screening tests, as well as up-to-date wellness and prevention information," Wright said in a statement. The app has diet and physical activity information, and is a great starting point to learn what preventive services should be considered based on age and gender, Wright said.
