
Minister of Health Ali Al-Obaidi opened on Sunday four state-of-the-art operation rooms at Al-Razi Orthopedic Hospital, raising to 12 the number of operation theaters. "Last year, the hospital performed 16,202 surgeries, while the emergency room received 138,941 cases in the same year, and out-patient clinics received 177,890 cases," Al-Obaidi said in a speech on the occasion. On his part, Director of Al-Sabah Health Area Dr. Adel Al-Asfour said that Al-Sabah Area has the lion's share in the number of constructions, including the new building for communicable diseases hospital, as well as the new Al-Sabah and Al-Razi hospitals. He added that the cost of the four operating rooms is KD 2.3 million (USD 8.2 million). On her part, Al-Razi Hospital Director Dr. Mona Abdulsamad said that construction works in Al-Razi tower, which includes 10 wards with an additional 240 bed-capacity, are underway.
