The Health and Population Ministry confirmed that 25 persons were wounded in the fire that broke out at Cairo-Tanta train on Monday.
Four are suffering from fractures, 14 of bruises and seven of smoke inhalation, the ministry said.
The fire ripped through the last carriage of the train while arriving at Shebin el Kom train station, Menouifya governor Ahmed Sherin Fawzi said.
Preliminary reports showed traces of inflammatory materials in the carriage.
The burning carriage was disconnected from the rest of the train to avoid any escalation of the situation.
The fire was contained and train traffic returned to normal on the line.
