Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Partners HealthCare Foundation have signed an agreement to improve the women’s health services in Qatar. Under the three-year agreement, Partners HealthCare will bring its clinical expertise beside the best world class practices to the Women’s Hospital, which is considered one of the busiest obstetrical hospitals in region, making it one of the best in providing health care in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. Within the arrangements for this agreement, a number of specialists and clinicians from Bregham and Women’s hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Newton-Wellesley Hospital will be working side by side with the Women’s Hospital’s team to bring the targeted developments in the quality of healthcare, which will eventually reflect on the quality of clinical outcomes. In the same context, a number of Partners Healthcare Foundation’s experts in obstetrics and gynaecology (OBGs) are currently engaged in their work at Women’s Hospital, where they are examining and studying ways to improve the quality and flow of operations that will assist in providing more effective healthcare. On the occasion of the signing of the agreement, director of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Dr Hanan al-Kuwari said that (HMC) is building a great legacy of the healthcare expertise in Qatar by ongoing development of its hospitals through sponsoring and promoting national expertise and supporting that trend by the best world-class experiences. She added that HMC, through its agreement with Partners HealthCare, will redefine the clinical practice. She also said that the new research-based clinical procedures will introduce practical developments that will improve the women’s healthcare. Dr Hanan al-Kuwari said that renovation and improvement take a lot of time and effort, but with the assistance of the partners the situation will be optimum to face these challenges. She said that Qatar has made great strides towards the establishment of the first academic health system in the region, that can provide a real benefit to patients. She added that Partners HealthCare represents the largest integrated academic health system in the United States, and that HMC could learn a lot from their experience in this area.
