Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has been honored with the Excellence Award in IT Healthcare during the 16th annual congress of the Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF), which was held in Cairo.
Also, during the congress, HMC's Managing Director Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari was awarded the Leadership and Education award for 2015. Mohamed Mubarak Al Noimi, chief of communication and chief of staff for the managing director's office at HMC, and Ali Abdulla Al Khater, executive director of corporate communications department at HMC, received the awards on behalf of the corporation and Dr. Al Kuwari. The awards were handed by Saudi Red Crescent President Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Egyptian Health Minister Dr. Adel El Adawy, Supreme Health Council's (SHC) Assistant Secretary General Dr. Saleh Ali Al Marri, and Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja, director of the executive board of GCC's Health Ministers Council and AHF secretary general.
The excellence award in IT Healthcare further affirms HMC's efforts in introducing and applying state-of-the-art technologies to healthcare in Qatar, notably its recently introduced Clinical Information System (CIS) - a comprehensive system-wide change, which has been designed in collaboration with clinicians. During the go live, the hospitals and clinics implementing CIS are replacing their existing paper patient clinical records system with a new electronic CIS. This process is being implemented in phases across HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Al Kuwari's award was described as a token of appreciation from AHF in recognition of her efforts in supporting advanced healthcare and medical education programs at HMC. The leadership awards are presented by the federation annually to healthcare pioneers and leaders in the Arab countries. Al Khater described the awards as additions to a series of accolades the corporation has been receiving in recent years due to its commitment to providing the best and quality standards of healthcare treatment and services to people of Qatar.
"Hamad Medical Corporation has obtained various distinctive regional awards and international accreditations for most of its services throughout the past years. These achievements confirm that our main aim is to continue to progress towards excellence and improving our services up to international standards," Al Khater said.
Al Noimi addressed the congress on modern directions in the use of technologies in the healthcare sector and explained the role of information technology in healthcare improvement and how it transforms to help the patients outcomes.
