Iranian President Hassan Rouhani lauded the country's experts and scientists for the efforts they have made to gain self-sufficiency in producing different medicines, and said Iran plans to stand on its feet in this field.
Rouhani told reporters in Tehran on Friday that Iran is trying to become self-sufficient in some medicines production.
This Iranian calendar year (started on March 21) is the year of economic prosperity and resistance economy, he said.
Referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran's scientific and technological capabilities, President Rouhani stressed that Iran is doing its best to stand on its feet.
Iran has taken wide strides in science and technology, particularly in medical and medicinal fields, in recent years.
In February, the form Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoun Abbasi announced that Iran is due to unveil 8 new radiomedicines with applications for diagnosis, prevention and treatment of a number of diseases.
"We have produced a number of radiomedicines before, and at present we have 5 new radiomedicines under production," Abbasi said at a ceremony in Tehran at the time.
"They (the new radiomedicines) should pass clinical verifications and then obtain the necessary license from the Health Ministry before they can be unveiled and supplied to the market," he added.
