Jordan sees rise in mental health cases

The number of Jordanians admitted to the country’s National Centre for Mental Health has increased significantly in the past year, according to figures published by the national newspaper Addustour on Saturday. The statistics showed that admissions rose from 1807 in 2012 to 2030 this year, an increase of 12.3%. Depression and anxiety are the most common mental health complaints in the kingdom. Experts said social problems such as unemployment and poverty were partly to blame for the rise in Jordan.
