
Kuwait Heart Association has called for abstention from smoking and enacting stricter law against smoking at public places.
Faisal Ali Al-Mutawaa, the society chairman, said in a statement on Saturday, on the forecast occasion, World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, falling on March 24, that hubble-bubble smoking is increasing among the youth and warned that this practice is one of the main causes of cardiac diseases.
He also warned Hubble bubbles, particularly those used at public cafes, turn into disease transmitters.
Statistics by the Ministru of Health show that daily smoking rates reached 24.5 percent of male citizens and residents and one percent of the females.
As to Hubble bubble smoking, its spread is estimated at 2.2 percent among the men, 0.2 among the women, while number of smokers per day has reached 0.5 percent among the men.
The MoH reports show that 4.3 percent of the men smoke on non-daily basis, as compared to 0.9 percent among the women and girls.
The ministry warns that rate of smokers among students has reached some 17 percent.
