Caretaker Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Monday ordered caretaker Health Minister Adel Adawi to provide the best available care services for the Egyptians and Mexicans injured in Wahat (Oasis) area in the Western Desert.
Mahlab also ordered caretaker Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali to review compensations to be allocated for Egyptian injured, Cabinet Spokesman Hossam Al Qaweesh said.
Mahlab also met with a representative for the Mexican Embassy in Cairo and phoned the ambassador to offer condolences on the death of Mexicans in the incident, the spokesman added.
The Interior Ministry announced late Sunday that joint police and army forces mistakenly dealt with four four-by-four vehicles carrying a group of Mexican tourists resulting in the death of 12 persons and the injury of 10 others.
A statement issued by the ministry said the victims were Mexicans and Egyptians, adding that they were rushed to hospital.
The statement said a team of investigators was formed to stand on the reasons behind the accident.
