The Ministry of Health on Monday reassured that no case of Ebola has been reported in the Kingdom, an official said.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry’s spokesperson, Hatem Azruie, said that the ministry has taken precautionary and preventive measures, in addition to training the health personnel to deal with any epidemic and communicable diseases.
He added that specific rooms have been assigned in hospitals for isolation in case of any suspected Ebola cases.
Azruie said that the ministry has trained health personnel to control and prevent infections and communicable diseases, including the Ebola virus.
He stressed that the ministry has the capacity and talent to counter epidemics and contagious diseases, according to the principles, standards, guidelines, recommendations and protocols of the World Health Organization (WHO), particularly in the field of training to deal with and control infections and communicable diseases.
He refuted reports carried by certain websites, that had cited Israel's "Yediot Aharonot" to claim that "Israel will train Jordan's health crews to face the Ebola virus," as completely untrue.
Azruie noted that for several months now, the Health Ministry has been training its personnel, both in the public and private hospitals, about controlling infection and preventing diseases in general, and the Ebola virus in particular.
The spokesperson said that the ministry is closely following "the epidemiology of the disease and is continuing to consult with the WHO and health sectors in the Kingdom on the virus' latest developments," and noted that the National Committee for the Prevention of Epidemics, which includes representatives from the health sectors in the Kingdom, had put in place an operational plan for dealing with the disease and its implications.
