No new cases of H7N9 infections were reported on the Chinese mainland in September, China's health watchdog said on Friday. A total of 134 people had been infected with the avian influenza virus by the end of September, and 45 of the infected have died, according to a monthly bulletin from the National Health and Family Planning Commission. Eighty-seven patients have recovered, the commission said, without detailing the current conditions of the other two patients. According to the bulletin, infections have been recorded in 12 provinces and municipalities. The commission urged local authorities to maintain effective prevention and control measures and strengthen evaluation of epidemic risks.
