Parents have to make sure that their kids spend no more than 1.5 to 2 hours each day in front of any kind of screen, media reports quoted experts as saying in LiveScience Saturday. As children have easy access to such digital devices as smartphones, tablets, parents are struggling with how long their kids should play with them. It is widely believed by parents that using tablets may be more beneficial for children to interact with the real world than watching TV. However, experts argue that it doesn’t mean your children can learn from it. "Everyone thinks that because you interact with content, it's going to be OK," says Rosemarie Truglio, senior vice president of education and research for Sesame Workshop. "It's the content, not the medium, that makes the difference." Truglio also recommends that parents should keep kids from using apps each day and check whether or not kids are using it appropriately. And she adds children under the age of two should not use apps that teach letters, and it is of great importance for parents to talk to children and ask them about “open-ended” questions for developing their language skills.
