Palestinian Minister of Health Jawad Awad on Wednesday warned of the impending health and environmental catastrophes that may affect Gaza Strip if paramedics and rescue crews are unable to recover the bodies of citizens killed from under the rubble, due to ongoing heavy Israeli bombardment, according to the Palestinian Information and News Agency "WAFA".
Minister Awad appealed to the international community to intervene to 'stop the carnage inflicted on the children of our people in the Gaza Strip,' which may be the nucleus of an environmental disaster striking the Gaza Strip, as well as to pressure the Israeli occupation forces to allow rescue teams to reach the affected areas, WAFA reported.
He stressed that the rescue crews face extreme difficulties to recover the bodies of the martyrs and rescue the wounded in areas subjected to Israeli shelling and bombardment, adding that there are still bodies buried under the rubble of buildings in the towns of Khuza'a and Abasan and Alzaneh in Khan Yunis, WAFA concluded.
