
A Palestinian prisoner has been transferred to a hospital ward after having been tortured in an Israeli detention center. The Palestinian Prisoner Affairs Committee reports that Muhammed Hussein Rabee suffered health complications whilst held and tortured at Israel's Russian Compound detention center.
Rabee, 33, from the village of Beit Anan near Ramallah was initially moved Hadassah hospital but is currently receiving treatment at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
He was arrested on the 27th of June with his family denied knowledge of his whereabouts for a month afterwards. Rabee's brother, Usama, is reported as saying "we did not know where Muhammad was until after a month of his detention, and his lawyer was not allowed to visit him until after 35 days of being at the Russian compound." The prisoner's lawyer confirmed that he had been "harshly tortured."
A previous detainee at Israel's Russian Compound stated that interrogators inflicted torture methods including putting pressure on the necks of victims and beating their hands, legs and head.
