Pharmacist’s life term for selling drugs upheld

The Fujairah Court of Appeal on Monday upheld a lower court’s verdict sentencing an expatriate pharmacist to life imprisonment for selling narcotic pills. The three-member bench presided bAbdullah Al Salamai also upheld the fine of Dh50,000 and deportation after serving his jail term. The case dated back to January this year when the Ant-Narcotics Unit of the police received a tipoff that an Arab pharmacist, identified as A.A.M, was trading and selling narcotic pills. After verifying the information, an undercover agent was deployed to strike a deal with him. The undercover cop managed to convince the pharmacist and struck a deal. The pharmacist was arrested when he handed over the contraband to the cop at the venue agreed upon earlier.
