A senior official at the Ministry of Health has quashed reports on the bankruptcy of the Central Blood Bank.
Head of the Kuwait Central Blood Bank Reem Al-Radwan told KUNA on Sunday that reports by local media in that respect are "groundless".
She explained that the Central Blood Bank, just like most similar ones worldwide witness times when blood donation is on the decline. This was the case with the Kuwaiti blood bank during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan and during Eid Al-Fitr, Al-Radwan added, noting that the Ministry of Health is intensifying blood donation campaigns to restore the strategic storage at the Central Blood Bank.
Al-Radwan urged citizens and expats in the country to donate blood and save lives, saying the Central Blood Bank is open from 08:00 a.m. for 12 hours, except on Friday, 01:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m.
