The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has urged hair and beauty salons to strictly adhere with health standards. The Municipality recently participated in an Open Day Forum for male & female salons & beauty centers, organized by Ajman Municipality featuring participation of 300 hair & beauty salons as well as municipal health officials with a view to raising the awareness about the public health & safety stipulations in these salons, acquainting the attendants with contagious diseases communicable via tools & equipment in use, and the preventive methods to be taken. Commenting on the event, Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Director of Public Health, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, said: “The Forum reviewed the health stipulations ought to be observed in salons to avoid communicating diseases either through using unhealthy tools, barbers themselves contracting contagious diseases, or failure to sanitize health tools used in hair-cutting, hair dryers, and hair dying among other. He called upon all male & female hair-dressing salons and beauty parlours in Abu Dhabi to adhere to the health standards governing such activities as they would have a direct bearing on the community health. He reiterated the Municipality’s keen attention on maintaining a continuous monitoring of these centers by subjecting them to regular watch, and intensifying surveillance & inspection campaigns under a well-rehearsed methodology covering all centers to verify their compliance with the governing hygiene and sanitation stipulations as per the requirements of public health and safety of community members. He added that during the Forum, the Public Health Division, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, was keen on providing and distributing the Black Henna booklet to the public. The Division also discussed the Black Henna and its adverse impacts on human health and skin. At the end of the Forum, the organizers honored the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City in recognition of its excellent efforts in perpetuating the standards of public health and protecting the safety of the community.
