At a hospital in the city of Jeddah yesterday, the Ministry of Health discovered the case of a Saudi patient in his forties who showed symptoms of a hemorrhagic fever viral infection after returning from a business trip to Sierra Leone during the month of Ramadan.
As a result of the similarity of the symptoms of this infection with symptoms of Ebola virus infection, the Ministry of Health has taken a number of actions to make sure the patient is not infected with the virus.
Initial tests conducted in a special laboratory confirmed that he is not infected with dengue fever requiring further tests to identify the virus.
The status of the patient is critical and the ministry has transferred him according to international standards to a specialist hospital affiliated to the Ministry of Health in the city of Jeddah in order to be isolated in suitable conditions.
