
Marking the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bahrain joined today a global drive to fight breast cancer with a mega festival patronised by First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Khalid deputised Health Minister Sadaq bin Abdul Karim Al Shehabi to declare the start of the marathon and associated activities at Dohat Arad in Muharraq, in the presence of Health Ministry Undersecretary Aisha Bu Onq, officials, patients and their families and other people.
The Health Minister said the function aims to increase awareness of the disease and the importance of its early detection. In a speech given on behalf of Shaikh Khalid, he thanked the leadership and decision makers for their continuous support to the health sector in Bahrain, including preventive services.
He also thanked Shaikh Khalid for patronising the event which aims to create a pioneering model of social partnership in combating diseases in Bahrain, support breast cancer patients and raise awareness of the importance of early detection of the disease.
