Health and safety officials on Thursday confiscated 1000 kilos of chicken smuggled into Ramallah from Israel, the public safety committee said. A truck carrying the chickens was stopped in Beit Nuba village, west of Ramallah, the committee said in a statement, adding that the poultry was unfit for human consumption. The committee warned traders to comply with Palestinian regulations and only to sell poultry slaughtered in licensed abattoirs. Healthy and safety officials are committed to stopping smuggling to allow Palestinian farmers to sell their goods in markets in the West Bank, it added.
