A 73-year-old man from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) died Tuesday in Germany from the infection with the novel coronavirus, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Tuesday evening. WHO said in its latest disease outbreak update that the man was transferred from a hospital in Abu Dhabi to Munich on March 19. Germany's Robert Koch Institute informed WHO of the new confirmed case. WHO also said that the British patient in the family cluster reported on Feb. 11 with travel history to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia prior to his illness has died. To date, WHO has been informed of a global total of 17 confirmed cases of human infection with the novel coronavirus, including 11 deaths. WHO continued to encourage all member states to continue their surveillance for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and to carefully review any unusual patterns. It said that it is currently working with international experts and countries where cases have been reported to assess the situation and review recommendations for surveillance and monitoring.
