The campaign for vaccinating 20,000 Pakistani children against measles and polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan is continuing as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and orders of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. There was a great turn-out on the third consecutive day and residents and people in large number thronged at the vaccination centres, the UAE's Pakistan Assistance Project Administration said in a statement. It also pointed out that the drive has received wide attention from all government agencies in the region and been coordinating with various hospitals, clinics and schools to advertise the campaign and encourage parents and make them aware of the importance of vaccinating their children against these serious diseases. The designated health centres have received children and students in large number who were administered vaccination under the supervision of specialised medical staff and nurses. For their part, residents and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hailed the humanitarian initiative of UAE and presented thanks and gratitude for President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces for ensuring health care for their children and their support for the Pakistani people in all spheres, stressing their keenness to benefit from this campaign to immunize their children against these diseases. A number of officials and doctors also lauded the support and assistance of UAE's wise leadership for the health sector in Pakistan reflected in the construction and maintenance of hospitals and clinics.
