
The Yemeni Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Fareed Mujawar on Thursday discussed with the Director General of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Graziano da Silva aspects of cooperation in agriculture and food security.The two sides also discussed the FAO’s initiative to create a special fund for food security in Yemen, and the joint efforts for fighting the desert locusts appeared in many regions in the country, particularly in Tihama area in addition to combating the threat of other agricultural pests.Mujawar asserted the Yemeni government’s commitment to continue cooperation with FAO in order to achieve the desired objectives.Da Silva affirmed the organization’s commitment to providing consultation and technical support for Yemen to develop the agricultural sector, and to supporting the efforts of enhancing food security.
