One person was killed and eight others injured - some of them in a serious condition, in Yemen on Monday evening in an attack by insurgents in civilian dress supporting the Yemeni President Ali Saleh, on the march that started in Taghair Square in front of the University of Sana'a, before heading towards Zubairy Street. Witnesses said that the supporters of Saleh were concentrated in Zubairy Street, and that the security forces intercepted the march, which was demanding that the revolution be brought about quickly. They fired live bullets and tear gas bombs at the crowds, leading to the death of one person and the wounding of 8 others. Witnesses said that central security forces allowed some of the protestors to pass, before preventing others from moving, using the kettling tactic - one side being the security forces, and the other, the supporters of the President, or the so-called "bullies", who fired live rounds at demonstrators and arrested several of them. Medical sources in the Taghair Square say that dozens of young people participating in the protest suffered from cases of fainting due to exposure to tear gas, noting that the dead man's body was taken to the University of Science and Technology hospital. One of the injured demonstrators was carried to Mutawakkil hospital near the scene, while the rest were transported to the field hospital in Taghair Square.
