
Three Myanmar ministries of foreign affairs, electricity and energy , and border affairs have reported their work done during the first 100 days of the new government which lasted until Aug.8, according to official media Saturday.
Under the 100-day program, Aung San Suu Kyi -led ministry of foreign affairs accomplished eight tasks of protecting Myanmar citizens abroad, relaxing restrictions on repatriation of citizens from foreign countries and lifting of some citizens from blacklist and easing restrictions on the travels of diplomats and staff of international agencies in the country, according to U Kyaw Zeya, director general of the ministry.
Moreover ,the director general highlighted that Myanmar could enter the agreement not only with Singapore on visa-free travel set to start on Dec. 1, but also with Laos on friendship bridge management.
The ministry of electricity and energy launched power plants and installed new power lines in the country's rural areas as well as implementing sub-power stations and new transformer units within 100 days, said U Htein Lwin, permanent secretary of the ministry.
The ministry also has plan to cooperate with the World Bank and international agencies in generating electricity in order to meet the growing demand which is expected to hit 3000 megawatts next year.
The ministry also eased restrictions in energy sector such as issuing temporary licenses for storage and distribution of liquefied natural gas to 663 filling stations, allowing aviation fuel business with foreign investment at local airports and revising retail fuel prices to be fair and reasonable.
U Ye Naing, permanent secretary of ministry of border affairs, said that the ministry provided water supply to 4951 households under water scarcity caused by extreme weather.
Moreover, accommodation of internally displaced persons in Rakhine state and others are underway under long-term plan, the ministry said.
