The Tunisian Interior Minister Ali Arayedh has confirmed the arrest of seven members of a terrorist group branching out from al-Qaeda. Members of the Uqba Ben Nafea Brigades were reportedly plotting a number of terrorist attacks in their bid to revive Jihad, and impose Islamic law. The Minister confirmed that the terrorist group was in its early stages, and hiding in Kasserine province and Ain Draham in the province of Jendouba. Arayedh added that the police forces arrested seven individuals, while the rest are still on the run. He said that the group was trained under the supervision of three Algerians close to the leader of al-Qaeda in Islamic Magreb (AQIM); Abu Musab Abdul Wadud. In the past, Tunisia has witnessed intense security campaigns, and armed clashes near the border with Algeria.
