Hamas, the Islamist political party that governs the Gaza strip, has warned the Israeli occupation of their response to the organised violations against Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque, which would lead to the third Palestinian uprising (Intifada). Hamas spokesman, Fawzy Barhoum, said that the current conditions surrounding the occupation of the Palestinian territories- after the Israeli police and dozens of the settlers broke in to al-Aqsa Mosque this morning - are the same as the conditions which were prevalent when the second Palestinian Intifada erupted. Barhoum said that the Palestinian Intifada will rise up against the Israeli occupation, and will defend and protect the Islamic Holy Sites, claiming that Israel is trying to impose its own racist policies over Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque. He also stated that the Palestinian National Authority has never ceased negotiations with the occupation, which has given Israel the courage to proceed with its illegal policies. He then added that Arab and Islamic states had not applied any real pressure against Israel to stop the desecration of these holy sites and the latest storming of al-Aqsa Mosque. Barhoum then concluded by demanding Arab, Islamic and international pressure on Israel to stop its breaches and violations on the rights of Muslims, and invited the Arab world to identify a unified strategy to counteract Israeli plots.
