Al-Hayya: The maturity of September is an illusion

Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, a member of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" and Chairman of the faction’s parliament, confirmed that heading to the United Nations is a mere "illusion that will not achieve anything to serve the Palestinian cause." In a speech during his participation in receiving the Malaysian delegation in the Legislative Council in Gaza City on Sunday, Al-Hayya said: "The Palestinian people are still living under occupation, there is no other way to end it but through resistance." He added: "The Zionist enemy does not respect the rights of the Palestinian people, depending on the American bias, the European hypocrisy, and Arab weakness," stressing that the Palestinian people will fight the occupation by all legitimate means available in their hands. Al-Hayya mentioned the continuous sufferings of the Palestinian people, inside and outside their territories because of the occupation policy practiced against them. The PLO negotiations with the Zionist occupation have reached an impasse where the trend at the present time confirms that there is no political horizon to the Palestinian authority. while on the other hand, Namir Hammad, advisor to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said on Sunday that the Palestinian leadership is currently consulting with a number of countries to formulate a Palestinian demand to be presented to the Secretary General of the United Nations, in order to be included on the agenda of the General Assembly so that Palestine can have a full membership in the UN. Hammad said in a statement to the press, "The efforts of the Palestinian delegations continued to formulate a demand line to be in vision with the Palestinian people, adding that the meeting of Arab follow-up “Committee for Arab Peace” intended on the 3rd of August, will discuss the legal paths of the demand, to avoid collision with a number of Member States of the UN Security Council. Hammad drew the attention that the final wording of the request has not yet formulated, while a lot of communication is being held with a number of countries within the framework of the consultation on the drafting of the final decision, in order to gain more support and to ensure the voting of the largest number of Member States on the Palestinian demand in the UN Security Council. On the diplomatic campaign led by the authority for the recognition of a Palestinian state, Hammad said, "Our campaign is continuing in all the capitals of the countries of the world, to gain international support, and urging them to recognize a Palestinian state on the borders of June 1967."
