Nine al-Qaeda militants were killed, whilst three Iraqi security forces were injured in clashes near the Syrian and Jordanian border in western Anbar, a source told Arabstoday. "Armed clashes on Wednesday afternoon, between members of al-Qaeda and Iraqi security forces near Wadi Horan border (400 km west of Ramadi, Anbar) resulted in the killing of nine of al-Qaeda members, while two policemen and a soldier were injured" the source said. The source, who requested anonymity, added that "the operation was carried out after receiving accurate intelligence information about al-Qaeda activity in the region," pointing out that "Iraqi forces conducted an intensive search for other militants in the region"
