Clashes between al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb [AQIM] militants and the Algerian army have resulted in the death of four militants and one military individual Friday. Weapons in the possession of the armed group were recovered in the operation that took place in the Bouhamama region of Medea Province 130 kilometres south of the capital Algiers. The clashes broke out as anti-terrorism forces were conducting a large-scale combing campaign of the wooded areas of the mountains where AQIM leader Abu-Musab [Droukdel] Abdel-Wadoud has his stronghold. The combing operation was resumed and the dead militants’s bodies were taken to hospital to be identified.
