The Algerian group claiming responsiblity for the attack on a gas field and the kidnapping of hostages has called on France to ends its offensive against Islamic groups in northern Mali. Signed-in-Blood Battalion has said that western forces must stop the attacks before any hostage exchange can be discussed. Meanwhile, the Algerian army and gendarmerie forces cordoned off the entire region as elite troops moved from Biskra towards Amenas. The armed group released Algerian detainees, but kept the foreign hostages and warned they they will be killed if their demands are not met. They asked for 20 wagon-vehicles and a safe passage towards Mali, in addition to France ending its military offensive in Mali.
