
The African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC) underlined Africa's solidarity with Egyptian people in their aspiration towards democracy, the rule of law and prosperity. This came in a detailed statement issued by the council on its meeting on the situation in Egypt. The council stressed the African Union's commitment to help Egypt counter challenges. The council expressed appreciation for a high profile panel on Egypt which consists of Former President of Mali Alpha Oumar Konare, chairman, former President of Botswana Festus Gontebanye Mogae and former Prime Minister of Djibouti Dileita Mohamed Dileita. The council pointed to the measures taken by the interim Egyptian authorities to achieve the roadmap announced on July 3, 2013, including a referendum on Egypt's new constitution. Source: MENA
