Ben Ali nephew arrested for carrying weapons

Tunisian security forces arrested Mehdi Ben Ali, nephew of former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, on Monday evening, on charges of carrying a firearm without a licence. The maximum penalty according to Tunisian law is up to three years in prison. The Tunisian court has convicted the ousted President and his wife Leila Trabolsi in absentia on charges of possessing weapons and drugs. The President’s nephew Duraid Ben Ali has been imprisoned on the same charge.
