Car bomb kills Iraqi policeman

An Iraqi policemen was killed on Thursday after the bomb he was attempting to dismantle blew up a car in Salahuddin province, 170 kilometres north of Baghdad. "The car was parked near a restaurant in Tikrit. The city's police received a report that the car was armed, but the bomb exploded and killed a policeman while he was trying to dismantle it," a security source told Arabstoday. Salahuddin has witnessed heightened tensions recently, as thousands of the province’s Sunni majority prepare to take to the streets on Friday to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s government.t.
