
Lebanese Interior Minister Marwan Charbel revealed that the country will "adopt an exceptional plan" to control the deteriorating security situation in the city of Tripoli. The statements came during a Central Security Council meeting held on Wednesday. The meeting was headed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati and a number of security leaders from the cabinet also partook in the discussions. The minister added that the government looks to contain fears of residents in the city, stressing that security authorities and the military institution will "not allow any security violations." He stressed that they will confront any attempts aimed at undermining security in the city. Charbel also took the opportunity to congratulate the people of Lebanon on Eid al-Fitr, expressing his hope they will enjoy peace and security in the near future.
