China's new ambassador in Lebanon has reiterated the importance of a finding a politic;al solution to the Syrian crisis. In a statement issued after his meeting with Lebanese delegates in Beirut, Jiang Jiang said "China, with its allies, wants to bring an end to the conflict in Syria, on the basis of a political solution that would stop the series of ongoing violence. "The spread of chaos and its transition from Syria to neighbouring countries, will negatively affect the stability of the whole region," he added. Jiang held talks with a group of Lebanese political figures at the Chinese embassy building in Beirut Sunday. The delegation included: Mahmoud Qumati, Khaled al-Rawas, Kassem Saleh, Emad al-Emad , Ahmed Marei, Fuad Hassan, Yasser al-Safadi and Fadi Houssami. Ambassador Jiang explained that China has a clear policy towards the Syrian crisis, adding, "We refuse any external interference in Syria's internal affairs, as it would hinder peace and stability in the region." The ambassador also reaffirmed China's strong ties with Lebanon. "China and Lebanon have enjoyed a strong friendship, for a very long time. "China is keen to strengthen ties and we're confident Lebanon would be able soon to overcome its security ordeal in the near future," Jiang concluded.
