Egyptian government spokesman Alaa el Hadidi, confirmed that the ratification of the Ethiopian Parliament on the Entebbe Convention has not made any alterations to the Ethiopian position. In a statement made on Thursday el Hadidi said: "The ratification of the Convention by Ethiopia does not change the official position of Egypt, which refuses the convention for as long as it fails to reach an understanding on all contentious items raised by Egypt." The Entebbe Convention is the framework agreement for the Nile Basin countries in Africa. Meanwhile, Egyptian Prime Minster Hisham Kandil held a meeting with the supreme committee of the Nile on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in the Nile issue and the details of the planned visit to the minister of foreign affairs of Ethiopia.
