Egypt's ambassador to Mauritania, Ahmed Fadel Jacob, has commended the enduring strength of the two countries’ relationship. The diplomat claimed that recent bilateral meetings between Egyptian and Mauritanian leaders confirmed and revitalised their long-standing partnership. The ambassador disclosed that Egyptian authorities have nominated 56 doctors of various specialisms to work in Mauritanian hospitals at the Mauritanian Health Ministry’s behest. He also announced that Arab Contractors, a leading Egyptian construction company, plans to reopen its office in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott after closure for five years. Jacob said the Mauritanian government was collaborating with his embassy to further international trade. He emphasised the potential for increased economic cooperation between Egypt and Mauritania, adding that he hopes to stimulate trade by ratifying an official memorandum. The ambassador also noted the vital role of the Egyptian Cultural Centre in Nouakchott since its establishment in 1964. The centre recently began training courses for Mauritanian journalists.
