The Egyptian Presidency admitted to sending a letter to the Israeli President, Shimon Perez, for the appointment of a new Egyptian Ambassador to Tel Aviv. Spokesman for the Presidency, Yasser Ali, said the structure of the diplomatic letters is related to the protocol and there is standard form about nominating new ambassadors, indicating that the letter is 100% correct. In his letter, Morsi described Perez as “great friend” asking him to approve the appointment of the new ambassador to Tel Aviv. The letter issued July 19 was signed by President Mohamed Morsi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr and the chief of presidential staff.
