The Egyptian presidency’s continued support for beleaguered Prime Minister Hisham Kandil reflects “stubbornness and embarrassment,” according to Nour Party spokesman Nader Bakkar. “The current government lacks any economic or strategic vision,” Bakkar said during an interview at Alexandria library’s annual book fair on Saturday. “Kandil has to resign.” The Nour Party official has called for a new prime minister with “clear economic vision” to ease Egypt away from increasingly grim financial prospects. Bakkar has meanwhile celebrated President Mohammed Morsi’s decision to resume relations with Iran. “It is better to embrace the Gulf – where nearly three million Egyptians live and work,” he said.
