Egypt’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr declared that the coming days will witness more dialogue between the parties in the Quartet initiative with the aim of resolving the ongoing crisis in Syria. In a statement on his Facebook account, Kamel said that he “cannot imagine a solution to the Syrian crisis that doesn’t involve the main states in the region," adding that it was for this reason that Morsi launched the Quartet initiative, which includes all major countries in the region. Kamel also said: "Contact with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Iran is ongoing in order to coordinate and consult on resolving the Syrian crisis." He pointed out that Egypt will intensify talks with other countries including Russia to find a solution, stressing that Egypt’s aim is putting an end to violence and ensuring an orderly and rapid transition. "Egypt's stand was clear from the outset. It supported the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people for democracy, freedom and social justice," Kamel added.
