French ambassador to Syria enters Lebanon

French Ambassador to Syria Eric Chevallier entered Lebanon on Tuesday, Lebanese media report, citing officials. Chevallier’s convoy reportedly crossed into the country via the Masnaa border crossing in the Bekaa. “We can confirm that he has crossed the border and he is now on his way to Beirut to catch a plane to Paris,” the Daily Star newspaper quoting a spokesperson at the French Embassy in Beirut President Nicholas Sarkozy announced the closure of the French Embassy in Damascus on March 2.
