Hamas arrests Fatah’s spokesman in Gaza

Fatah's spokesman Fayez Abu Aita has been arrested by Hamas and is currently being detained in the Hamas headquarters in Gaza. Fatah said in a statement that Abu Aita has been in custody for several hours. The West Bank government considers that this is a political arrest and they have denounced Hamas' silence and inaction regarding the crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. The statement added that Hamas have arrested Abu Aita several times for political reasons. Abu Aita is a law lecturer, he was mayor of Bait Lahiya, north Gaza until Hamas took control of the Strip in 2007. He was detained by Israel for nine years, accused of being a Fatah member.
