Palestinian Islamist Resistance Movement Hamas, stated they will not abandon their cause even if they lose supporters in a press statement on Saturday. They added they will not stop the ‘march of the jihadist movement’. The statement went on, saying: "We derive strength from Allah and he is the reason for our victory in addition to the steadfastness and sacrifices of the Palestinian people, on the one hand, and the support of the people of the Arab and Islamic countries, on the other." “We are not involved in the on-going conflict in Syria and will never be, as the destiny of the movement is to resist the Israeli occupation on our usurped land,” it added. Hamas highlighted what it referred to as false news reports claiming the movement has intervened in the Syrian crisis. It accused the claims as being a desperate attempt to discredit the organisation, but asserted that they “stand with the Syrian people in their right to freedom and dignity”. Referring to the current political instability in Egypt, the movement reiterated that it has not interfered. Hamas said that all that is published about the involvement of the movement in Egypt “is a pure fabrication and lie, and biased propaganda that only serves the enemies of Egypt and its people”.
