Lebanon's Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah has said the uprising in Syria could only be resolved politically. Egyptian news portal Ahram Online reported that the Lebanese leader, whose organisation is a staunch supporter of Bashar Al-Assad's regime, urged all parties to the conflict to lay down their weapons. In a message aired during a graduation ceremony, Nasrallah said: "The only option is a political solution... and that means laying down weapons simultaneously with the aim of reaching a clear political solution. We are afraid for Syria. We fear partition, civil war, chaos and the weakening of Syria. Whoever wants to destroy Syria or force the collapse of the regime at any price will not succeed." Hezbollah is considered Iran's proxy in Lebanon and much of its weapons transit through Syria.
