The criminal court in Babylon on Thursday issued a death sentence against a senior leader of Al Qaeda for being involved in the bombing of a textile factory in Hilla during May 2011, a judicial source in Babylon told ‘Arabstoday’. He said: “The first criminal court in Babylon province has issued today, a death sentence against Reese Haniar for his conviction of the bombings that targeted a textile factory in the city of Hilla.” “The verdict was issued after considering the evidence against him,” the source, who asked not to be named, added. He also pointed out that the convicted is a senior leader of Al Qaeda. The Babylon province, about 100 km south of Baghdad, had experienced four bombings with car bomb explosions outside a textile factory in Hilla, killing 80 people and wounding at least 163, in May 2011.
