Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed
Dubai - Arab Today

Aligned with the strategic vision and national agenda of the UAE, the 2016 International Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) conference this year is dedicated to the development and transformation of HR in government and public organisations.

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the 18-19 April conference will assemble 30 keynote speakers and more than 500 directors, senior managers, executive consultants and experts in HR, organisational development, career development, compensation and benefits rewards, recruitment, talent management and learning and development engagement to discuss the significant role of future governments in supporting a stable economy and a prosperous nation and exchange invaluable insights on latest HR trends and strategies.

Under the theme of "Future of HR and its Role in Transforming Governmental Capabilities," the 2016 conference agenda features important topics and specialised sessions led by global and regional pioneers sharing their insights, best practices and innovations in the development of government human capital.

Ibrahim Fakhri, acting Executive Director of Support Services, FAHR, said Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Minister and Chairman of FAHR, will deliver the keynote speech at the two-day HR event which will be followed by trend-setting international keynote addresses by global HR movers and shakers on strategies of human capital development. An elite line up of international experts from FAHR's partners including Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) and British Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and local keynote speakers from Emirates Group and DP World will address ways to drive happiness and create an innovative culture in your workplace, practical and applicable tool kits to help you implement winning human capital strategies and transformation of government HR practices to create a high performing organisation.

An international keynote speaker will focus on Pursuit of Happiness: Utilising Employee Well-being to Sustain a Culture of Engagement.

This session will unveil ways to ensure a more creative and celebratory environment in the workplace to engage openly with employees and change their mindset. A panel discussion will deal with Game-Changing People Strategies: Development Practices for the New Knowledge Economy.

Panelists will discuss a wide range of thematic topics around The Dawn of A New Great Workplace Era, Effective Talent Management Strategies in Changing and Growing Markets, Smarter Workplaces: How Technology is Changing the Nature of Work, Unlocking Competitive Advantage Through Managing Talent and Diversity, and Creating the Next Generation of Human Capital: Cultivating Leaders of Tomorrow, Today.

Fakhri said five full-day workshops will be conducted with pre-conference workshops dealing with delivering happiness in the workplace, driving innovation by creating an engaging workplace and understanding HR metrics and analytics.

The post-conference workshops will address the HR business partner's present and future role and HR and social media.

The workshop will try to answer the question as to how can one best use social media in HR.

Social media and mobile technology have had a major impact on our lives and the way we work. Many organisations are developing their use of social media for recruitment, development and engagement practices. This short workshop will deliver practical insights into this area of HR based upon CIPD research. Participants will interact, share their own experiences and challenges as well as learn from case studies. There will be the opportunity to consider how to make the most of social media in HR for your organisation.
