Iraqi governor survives assassination attempt

A security source in the Iraqi governorate of Nineveh, said Governor Athil al-Nijifi survived an assassination attempt by unknown assailants who targeted his procession in South Mosul on Wednesday. The source told Arab Today that a bomb exploded near the governor’s procession and led to significant damages on several vehicles but no Iraqi official was injured. The governor was the target of three previous assassination attempts in June that left a number of his guards injured.
